I had heard so many good things about Shake Shack and their amazing burgers but surprisingly not that many reviews about their milkshakes, which you would assume is the star. When we went to New York, we knew we had to hunt one down. As Grand Central was a place we were going to stop by on the way, we headed to the Shake Shack in the dining concourse.

The set up is essentially a spread-out food court, and I was worried the lines would be terrible according to reviews I read. Perhaps it was due to the fact that we were having an early dinner (around 5pm), but there were only a handful of people in the line before us, and another few waiting for their orders.
I decided to get the Shack Burger ($4.75) and shared the Black and White milkshake ($5.00) with my friend. You order food on the side, then they give you an electronic number that beeps once your order is ready. It didn’t take more than 10 minutes to receive our orders.
The burger was delicious – soft bun and juicy patty – my only gripe with it was that the patty was a touch over seasoned, and I would have liked it a little less salty.
The milkshake was a bit of a disappointment. It wasn’t terrible, just very mediocre for a place that is named after their shakes. It was rather runny and not thick and creamy, but thankfully there wasn’t foam. I was expecting a black and white swirl or something similar to the black and white cookies that New York is famous for, but what we got was just a brown shake.
Overall I would definitely return to Shake Shack for another burger but I might pass on the shakes.
