Craving Greek food in Markham? There are plenty of ‘fast food’ versions of Greek food around, but for a nice homey meal, sit down at Loui’s Kouzina and pick anything from flaming cheese (saganaki) to a pork souvlaki dinner.
Location: 9255 Woodbine Ave
Hours: Sunday to Thursday: 11am to 9pm
Friday to Saturday: 11am to 10pm
Saturday: 11am to 1am
Sunday: 11am to 12am
Atmosphere: Homey, a little cramped
In the same plaza as T&T Supermarket, Loui’s Kouzina offers a variety of Greek menu items and even with management and owner changes, the food they serve is still delicious.
My personal favourites are the spinach dip, moussaka, and the pork souvlaki dinner.
For appetizers, the spinach dip comes hot and gooey, and they offer the choice of grilled and/or fried pitas. The Greek fries are crisp and come with melty feta cheese.
My favourite things to order for dinner are the moussaka, which is like a lasagna but with potato and eggplant instead of noodles. The pork souvlaki comes with a generous helping of tzatziki, and with the option of salad, potatoes, rice, or vegetables as your sides.
The interior is nicely decorated but definitely very cramped. There are also black marks on the ceiling from all the saganaki, which I find pretty hilarious.
Definitely a place to stop by if you’re in the area. Personally I do love my Greektown restaurants but I definitely frequent this more often due to the proximity.
