There was a time my friends and I were obsessed with going to Green Grotto. We used to go anywhere from once to three times a week for some popcorn and bubble tea. There is a sign outside that welcomes you to enjoy your stay for up to 3 hours, and often we stayed for over two hours.
Why? Green Grotto provides an atmosphere similar to a pub – sit down, order a drink, and chat for hours with your friends, get some work down, play some cards, browse some magazines, you name it.

Since then, they have revamped their Warden and Steeles location to be significantly larger with a drive-thru window that still is not operational the last time I visited. They also have a third location at Midland, but their Highway 7 location remains my favourite.
When we first came here, there was a really nice waitress who was always very friendly and understanding. Since then, the service and baristas have varied from good to not-so nice.
My favourite drinks are their Hokkaido milk tea, pudding milk tea, Okinawa brown sugar, matcha milk tea, and their jelly trio with roasted milk tea. Most of their drinks are good, but I find myself hardly straying from these few. All the drinks can be adjusted – sugar and ice level – and once you place your order, they give you a bottomless bowl of popcorn.
They do have some food options but unless you’re really hungry, I would just stick to their drinks. We’ve come here consistently for nearly four years, and we still love it.
