My brunch buddy was finally back in town for the holidays, and we decided to continue our tradition in Markham. We took the usual suspects out of the picture, and a quick Google search showed us a cafe on Main Street Unionville.
When looking for places to eat in Berlin, House of Small Wonder popped up among the top recommendations. After seeing photos from a couple of friends who were in Berlin just before I was, I was determined to pay a visit. I didn’t even know what the menu was like; it was the above photo that drew me in.
We had a bit of time before our train, so we decided to spend some time at a cafe instead of lugging our bags around town.
Starbucks and Second Cup were just down the street, but we decided to try a more local cafe.
I just came back from a week in Vancouver, and living in Gastown, we made it our mission to get our daily caffeine kick from a new place every morning.
Finch’s was not originally on my shortlist of cafes I made before we came, but we passed by it one morning and thought it was adorable – so we made a mental note to come back another morning.
We were in search of a brunch place to continue our monthly brunch sessions back when Pig was still in Toronto; we decided on Saving Grace without much expectation.
We headed there early and was surprised to see a line of about fifteen people already there; the restaurant opened and the small space filled up quickly.
I’m one of those people who have trouble concentrating at home. There’s always something to do, clean, watch, make, etc., and so I also find myself sidetracked or seriously distracted even when I manage to sit down and work. Studying or finding a place to work in Markham isn’t the easiest thing to do – libraries fill up fast here and aren’t that plentiful.
I love the cafe atmosphere of nursing a drink for a couple of hours while working, or just catching up with friends over a a cup of joe. There have been more coffee shops popping up over the last few years that offer exactly that. Continue reading Coffee Shops in Markham
I was on the hunt for a place to work after dinner on a Tuesday night, and found Funky Munky Cafe. I wasn’t looking for bubble tea, but imagine my surprise when I walked in to find that they offered bubble tea in addition to coffee and tea.
Independent coffee shops are popping up all over Markham, and the one with the biggest hype has to be Alchemy Coffee. Located in a strip plaza off Highway 7, it’s reputation brings customers in despite the sparse parking.
